Kaneohe is a city of 35,000 on the shores of picturesque Kaneohe Bay, and at the foot of the Koolau mountain range. In Hawaiian, Kaneohe means "Bamboo Man" although there is relatively little bamboo in the area. Hawaii legand says a local woman compared her husband's cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo; thus the place was named K?ne?ohe or "Bamboo man".
